Frederico is a medical oncologist at the Centro de Oncologia of Hospital Sírio Libanês in São Paulo, Brazil. Frederico received his M.D. from the Escola Paulista de Medicina in São Paulo and completed a residency program in internal medicine at Hospital das Clínicas, Universidade de São Paulo. He also completed the fellowship program in hematology and oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
In 1998, Frederico founded the Centro de Oncologia of Hospital Sírio Libanês, which is currently the leading center for cancer treatment in Latin America. In 2003, Frederico founded the Brazilian Network for Cancer Treatment, a 150-hospital satellite broadband network for continuing medical education and clinical research development. He has conducted many oncological research activities with special interest in the application of electromagnetic fields in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer. He is a world leader in neuroendocrine neoplasia, hepatic malignances and gastrointestinal cancer. He has published more than 190 manuscripts with more than 2,000 citations. He is member of the advisor board for the European Neuroendocrine Society and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Brazilian Clinical Oncology Society and Gastrointestinal Group.
